As we draw towards the end of the year, there tends to be only one thing on our mind… However, this month’s favourite news from around the web has reminded us that the world doesn’t stop just because Christmas is approaching!

Homes and infrastructure get Autumn Statement boost

Philip Hammond has delivered his first Autumn Statement.

As well as upping the income tax threshold and raising the national living wage, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced that there will be a £2.3 billion housing infrastructure fund to help provide 100,000 new homes in high-demand areas. A further £1.4 billion has also been committed to funding 40,000 additional affordable homes.

Fuel poverty: How can UK tackle cold homes and high bills?

Some of the worst weather for years has been hitting us recently (Storm Angus made his presence well-known earlier this week), which has highlighted the need to keep warm and dry during winter months.

World’s best architecture photography brought into sharp focus

The World Architecture Festival took place in Berlin this year, during which the world’s architecture community met to celebrate, learn, exchange and be inspired.

The National Museum in Szczecin might have won the biggie – World Building of the Year 2016 – but we’ve been taken by the photography entered into the Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Award.
