Flavelle Mill – Port Moody
Flavelle OceanFront Development
The city of Port Moody is planning a major upscaling of its livability with the creation of an oceanfront community that supports a mix of uses, including a range of housing options, along with commercial, light industrial and recreational uses for the benefit of local residents and visitors. As currently envisioned by city planners and developers, the 34-acre Flavelle Lumber Mill will be transformed into a modern urban village that supports a population of about 7,000 residents and adds a wealth of economic, recreational, social, natural and entertainment benefits to Port Moody.
A variety of housing options are being considered for the development, with condominium buildings, street-oriented townhouses, rental housing, and the potential for house boats estimated to lead to the creation of almost 3,400 residential units. The expansive waterfront area will be revitalized and enhanced by the building of about 1.3 kilometres of new recreational trails, a boardwalk along the water’s edge connecting to Rocky Point Park, and the development of four park areas totalling 4.9 acres, and a 1.9-acre public plaza.
The Flavelle Oceanfront Development could lead to the creation of more than 1,000 on-site jobs upon completion, which could generate up to $57 million in annual employment income. Plans call for 99,000 square-feet of office space; 72,000 square feet of retail space, including a grocery store, restaurants and cafes; 103,000 square feet of light-industrial space; a 106,000 square-foot campus of care facility; and 75,000 square feet of live/work space designed for artistry and other creative ventures.
Developers and planners plan to utilize a sustainable approach in the development to ensure energy efficiency and environmental health. By using LEED Principles of design and construction, planners aim to make the development a model for sustainable communities. The site’s location will help in this regard, as it is in walking distance of both the nearby Sky Train Evergreen Line and West Coast Express, which provide easy connections to the rest of Metro Vancouver.
Public consultation has been an integral part of the planning process thus far, and is expected to continue as the planning stage moves through the ongoing permitting process. I will be keeping a close watch on this project going forward, and will provide updates when appropriate. If you have any questions about the Flavelle OceanFront Development project, or any other questions about real estate in Metro Vancouver, register with us today.

Car Won’t Start? 5 Possible Reasons Why Your Car Won’t Start
Not every reason your car won’t start is obvious. There are a lot of issues that no one talks about. In this article, we will be focusing more on the ways a locksmith will be able to help you when your car won’t start. The issue could have to do with your ignition cylinders or with the keys themselves. You may need some form of car key replacement services in order to get your car working again.
Troubleshooting When Your Car Won’t Start
- Turn your car key in the ignition.
- Observe what lights come on.
- Listen for any sounds that are made.
- Use a second key (if possible) to see if this issue persists.
- See if there is a change or not.
The information you get from this process will give you some insight as to why your car won’t start. It will lay the groundwork from what you investigate next and how to investigate it. This is a good starting point. It is not going to give you everything you need to know, but it will allow you to navigate the types of issues you may be facing so you can find the best solutions for why your car won’t start.
There are many things that could be responsible for why your car won’t start. Your car battery could be dead. Your engine might have some form of vapor lock. However, we are going to focus on some of the commonly overlooked reasons your car won’t start. These are issues that you may be experiencing, and that a locksmith can help you solve.
Instances Where a Locksmith Can Help When a Car Won’t Start
1. Ignition Switch Issues
Problems with a car’s ignition switch could be the reason that your car won’t start. This can often disguise itself as an issue with the car battery. But you can save quite a bit of time and money by using your headlights to check to see if the root cause of why your car won’t start is actually because of a faulty ignition switch. Headlights can be turned on without the proper keys inserted and without the car being on. If these lights are coming on, but the dashboard lights are not, it is a good indication that the battery is alive and well.
You may need to undergo a full ignition switch replacement, or there could be an issue with wiring that could address the reason your car won’t start. The ignition switch needs to be connected to the battery in order to work properly, and sometimes these connections can be undone due to manufacturing errors. If you are replacing your ignition switch after you have already changed your battery, be aware that you may encounter further issues with the car starting. (More on this in the “Invalid Signaling” section).
2. A Worn Car Key
This will only affect physical keys that are inserted into ignition cylinders. Due to the lifespan of a car, there is a high chance that your car key will wear down over time. This is not a common cause that people will consider when a car won’t start. This is an issue that is rather difficult to troubleshoot without a rarely used spare key. This is just another reason to have a spare car key.
With a spare key, you can insert the spare (which has not been used nearly as frequently as your everyday key) and see if the car will turn over. If you use a relatively unused spare key, and even then the car won’t start, you will know it is not an issue of having a worn car key. When you do not have a spare key, you can try your key in the door or trunk locks. Be sure not to lock every door to your car before trying this, because you might find lock yourself out of the car.
This will disguise itself as something like an ignition switch complication, as your headlights will work, but your car will still not turn over. The reason that a worn key is not working is that the grooves have changed shapes and depths due to repeated use. This is natural wear, which makes the key interact improperly with the lock cylinders. The solution is to use the same methods of replacing lost or stolen car keys. You can have keys made on a key cutter that allows a locksmith to make a new key by code. It will evoke the full cost of car key duplication, but it is likely the be the simplest fix.
3. Ignition Cylinder Problems
As mentioned in the “Worn Key” section, when your car won’t start, you should check to see if your key works in the door locks and not the ignition cylinder. If your key works in the door locks and not the ignition, and you know there is not an issue with the ignition switch, there is a chance that the ignition cylinder has worn out. A good indication that you may need ignition cylinder replacement is if the car had had many keys and is quite old. It is likely that the key will wear out faster than the cylinder, but the cylinder can wear down.
You might be able to salvage your current ignition cylinder by rekeying your car ignition. This will reduce costs that will often compound around programming new keys, cutting new keys, and even replacing door lock cylinders. It is important that you have a professional assess your situation because issues that seem to revolve around ignition cylinders can actually have to do with key problems. These problems revolve around the car key sending the wrong/no signals to your car’s computer. It is difficult to find out if this is the reason your car won’t start, without more experienced eyes observing the situation.
4. Invalid Signaling
There are several cars that will invalidate all existing car keys once the battery is changed. You might also have issues when you make new keys. (This is one of the dangers of aftermarket electronic car keys.) Transponder chips and electronic keys can also become damaged without any visible sign that the key should not be working. If you got a new car key recently, you may not have known that you needed to have some form of transponder key programming. All of these things can cause a problem with how your car key is signaling the onboard computer or transceiver of the vehicle.
The solution to all of these issues is to find the right locksmith. You should be looking for a locksmith that specializes in auto locksmithing. They need to have programming and key cutting machines, and some way to access your car’s diagnostic port to interact with the vehicle’s onboard computer. The process you need might not be as simple as duplicating car keys. For example, you may need existing keys to be invalidated for security reasons. And because this is a signaling issue, it is important that they have the ability to fully replace a car key or remote.
5. Key Fob Battery Dead
With modern cars, more and more people are having issues where they press the ignition button on a keyless start system, and the car won’t start. Most likely this is just a battery issue. If it is as simple as a dead battery in your key fob, then chances are you will not even need a locksmith. You can likely just change the battery on your remote, and this will not be as extreme as key fob replacement. If you do not have a spare car key or do not have access to a proper battery replacement, you are going to have a hard time getting a replacement.
It is unlikely that you are going to find the type of battery your key fob uses just lying among a common battery stockpile. These batteries are not used in a wide range of products, and the exact size and amperage of car key fob batteries will even vary from auto manufacturer to auto manufacturer. This is all to say, that you might need to call for help if you cannot walk to a store that sells non-standard batteries. This issue is very simple to diagnose because having a keyless ignition limits the number of issues you are likely to encounter.
Conclusion
There are many potential reasons that a car won’t start. Now you know a few more things that you can investigate in order to solve your issue and get yourself back on the road. Start by doing some basic troubleshooting. Then look into the more specific issues that you could be facing. Reach out to a locksmith if you are having trouble fixing any car key or ignition problems. And if you need help finding out what the issue is, you can also get the insight of a local locksmith. Be sure to look into every possible issue, and don’t give up until you can start your car again.

5 Reasons Why A Broken Door Lock Might Be More Serious Than You Think
A door lock can end up being broken as a result of several different factors. Some of these factors might be accidents, and some of them might be deliberate, but regardless of the cause, it is your reaction as a homeowner that truly counts. If your door lock is broken, the problem could be far more serious than you might think, so it is important not to just sweep it under the rug as an everyday occurrence.
As a homeowner, building manager or tenant, it can be very easy to overlook things and occasionally allow minor issues to slide. All too often, people get carried away doing this and it might lead one to think that people do not care about security. I get it, we are all human. However, when it comes to a door lock being broken for whatever reason, the issue could end up putting your home security and building infrastructure in jeopardy. If you have read any of my work on here, you will know that I am a major proponent of better front door security, and overall care of front door locks.
Many homeowners have the tendency to implement temporary, minor, solutions when they realize that something might be wrong with their door locks. There is also the common misconception that a broken door lock means the lock will look as if it has been shattered into a million pieces. However, in some instances you will not be able to tell that your lock is broken just by looking at it. The problem with a door lock broken could be as simple as an issue with the springs housed within the locking mechanism of a pin tumbler lock.
A problem like this will not be visible and can only be spotted upon a proper diagnoses of your lock. If you notice any issues that are causing your door lock to behave in a way in which it normally wouldn’t, you need to take the time to try and find the root of the problem. A residential locksmith can always help you properly diagnose and rectify the problem with your lock if you are unsure how to go about it on your own.
Door Lock Broken? How To Know For Sure
There is no hidden science that is meant to help you figure out that your door lock is broken, but there are some measures that can help you diagnose the issue efficiently. The ability to identify that your door lock is broken will help you rectify the problem, and it will reduce the chance of any more damage being caused.
One of the easiest ways to spot that your door lock is broken is if it is no longer operable by its designated key. Essentially, if the designated key is not able to unlock your door there is a good chance that there is a problem with your door lock cylinder. I will play devil’s advocate for just a second and say that it is equally plausible that you might have a broken key, but this is easier to spot in comparison to a door lock broken. Make sure that you take the time to properly examine your key so that you can rule it out as a culprit and hone your focus in on the door lock broken. If the key is able to rotate the lock, but does not successfully lock or unlock your door, it is a potential sign that your door lock is broken.
Also, if the key does not rotate in the lock at all, it is a telltale sign that your lock might be broken. This is a very different scenario from the one described above, and this might be a more telling sign that the internal mechanics of the lock are not functioning properly. If homeowners take notice of this, they should make sure that they take the appropriate steps to have their door locks repaired. These occurrences are much more common among some of the door lock brands that critics experts to hate.
Another clear sign that a door lock might be broken is if the key gets stuck in the lock, or if it becomes increasingly difficult to properly operate, the lock with the designated key. You will notice that the once fluid motion of inserting your key into the lock and unlocking your door is no longer there. It will also be increasingly difficult for you to remove the key from the lock. Paying attention to these signs will help you repair the damage to your lock before it spreads and becomes much more serious. It will also help you prevent damage to any other components that work in conjunction with your door locks. This includes your keys, door, and door frames as well.
A broken door lock is not always caused by damage done to the internal mechanism or a broken door lock handle. In some cases, the door lock might be broken because of an issue that arises with the latch bolt that is in place, or some trouble with another aspect of the door hardware.
Door Lock Broken? The Dangers You Need To Know
A broken door lock might always be more serious than you think, especially when it comes to your home and your security. Door locks are integral parts of any security mechanism, and they should be given the appropriate amount of care. The dangers of door locks should not only be explored through the lens of security. You should also be aware of the potential damage that broken door locks can cause to other components of your home security. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why a door lock broken might be much more serious than you think.
1. Security Vulnerabilities
Starting with the most obvious reason is not really my style, but if we are talking about the reasons why a door lock broken should be taken seriously, then we might as well begin by talking about the ways it impacts security. As I mentioned above, door locks and security go hand in hand and as such, you should be aware of the fact that a broken door lock can leave you extremely vulnerable. This is a much more serious issue if you are discussing a broken front door lock.
Essentially, the foundation of your security is now in question, and this makes it much more likely that burglars and criminals will be able to exploit your home security without being stopped in their tracks. This can happen in several different ways. For instance, if your door lock is broken in such a way that does not allow you to fully close your doors, you should realize the vulnerable state that this places you in. Also, if your door lock is broken in a manner that makes it much easier for burglars to pick your lock or use any other bypass measures with ease, you should know that you are in a very vulnerable position.
Without a functioning and effective lock in place, your door is only going to be a placeholder and a prop. It will not be able to successfully filter the access people have to your home. Attention is key whenever your are dealing with a broken front door lock. I say this because the only thing worse than not fixing your door lock when it is broken, is not realizing that your door lock is broken.
2. Symptom of Burglary
Since we are still in the vein of security, we might as well talk about the ways in which a broken door lock might be an indicator of burglary and crime. Disregarding the signs of a broken door lock can potentially place your home and your family in danger, which could have otherwise been avoided. As I pointed out earlier, one of the easiest ways to see that there might be a problem with your door lock is by being aware that it might not be working the way it is supposed to.
However, being able to understand and spot a broken door lock is only one part of the equation. The other part of the equation is being able to understand the factors that might have contributed to your door lock getting broken. One of the most common ways in which a door lock might be broken is through the application of excessive force. This might be committed unintentionally by some homeowners, but it is often a deliberate act by burglars as they attempt to gain access to your home.
There is always the possibility that your door locks were able to successfully stand up to the burglars, but there are often signs that indicate that a burglar might have attacked your lock. One of these telltale signs is the fact that your door lock might be left broken. If you notice this and neglect it, you are potentially placing your home in great danger, and there are several reasons behind this. The first is that the burglars who attempted to break in before will now have a much higher chance of success than before, simply because they are familiar with your lock and it is no longer operating at the capacity in which it once was.
In situations like this, it will be best to change your door lockset so that if burglars do come knocking again (they normally don’t knock), they are met with a completely new lock that they have no familiarity with. This might not sound like an effective security measure, but it will definitely get the job done. You can always opt to have the same lock repaired, but as I mentioned, whoever was trying to break into your home will now have intimate enough knowledge to combat your door lock.
3. Door Damage
If a broken door lock is neglected for an extended period of time, it has the potential to compromise the integrity of your door and other aspects of your door hardware. This especially goes for homeowners whose door locks are broken but are still somewhat usable. Keep in mind that not every single broken door lock will mean that the lock is broken to the point where it cannot be used in some minimal way. In some cases, a broken lock is just not functioning the way it regularly would.
A clear example of this is a door lock that is broken because of a problem that stems from the door latch not being properly aligned. This does not mean that the handle has been separated from the body of the lock or anything quite as graphic. It is in these scenarios that homeowners are tempted to continue using their door locks even though the door lock is broken.
Whenever this happens, there is always the possibility that the damage might spread to other parts of the door hardware and effectively damage the door. In this context, door hardware is referring to the other tools and components that are used in conjunction with a door lock to make it work as intended. If you ignore your broken door lock, you will burdened with the cost of changing your damaged locks as well as replacing a damaged door, which could have easily been avoided. This potentially refers to the door frame and the entire door itself.
4. Key Damage
Similar to the section above, we will be taking a look at the ways in which a broken door lock can affect other key elements of your doors infrastructure, no pun intended. Door locks go hand in hand with the keys that are fashioned to work with them and this means that, in most cases, a broken door lock will affect the key in some way or form. This should go without saying, but not all homeowners are aware of the potential risk that a door lock broken poses to other elements like keys.
Keys have a very intricate relationship with door locks, and the state of a door locks internal mechanisms can influence the manner in which a key works. If the internal part of your lock is damaged, it could place an increased physical strain on your key, which can in turn lead to the increased likelihood that the key will end up damaged. Having a broken door lock is already enough hassle that some homeowners have to deal with, but if it is not addressed in the right manner you will have to deal with a bigger cost burden down the line.
5. Emergency Hazard
This point is not one that many homeowners have ever taken into consideration, but you need to realize that a broken door lock is a potential emergency hazard, especially if you never attempt to remedy the situation. Time is an important factor in every emergency situation, and it can often be the deciding factor between harm and safety. Door locks that are broken reduce the amount of time that you have at your disposal. This might not sound like a big deal on any regular day but in an emergency situation where you are already pressed for time, a few seconds could be a defining factor.
Imagine, if you will, that you need to quickly enter your home to take refuge during an emergency. Your chance of survival or success in this emergency situation will be severely affected due to the fact that you cannot unlock your broken front door lock in an expedient manner. The same can be said for a scenario in which you are locked inside your home. For the sake of this argument, let us say that you are locked inside your home trapped in the midst of a fire (or even a burglary) and you are trying to escape as fast as you can. Your evacuation route will be impeded because of your broken door locks, and this has the potential to place your life in extreme danger. In this instance, and all of the ones described above, your door lock broken is much more serious than you think.
Final Thoughts
If you walk away with anything after reading this, I hope you walk away with the understanding that in the grand scheme of all things security, your door locks do matter. Understand that paying attention is the key to realizing that something might be wrong with your door locks. Make it a daily habit to analyze the way your door locks are working so that you will know whenever there is anything out of the ordinary going on. Constant vigilance and attention will help you take better care of your door locks and your home security, and I hope that I have been able to leave you with that.

5 Most Common Types Of Physical Security Threats
Since the dawn of time, there have always been threats to security that manifest in many different ways. As long as there is something that needs to be protected, it goes without saying that there is something that you are protecting it from. Why do you think padlocks have been around for such a long time? Physical security threats used to be the most prevalent threats because that was all society was accustomed too. But thanks to rapid global growth and advancement there is now a wide array of security threats that people have to take into account.
Now, I am not saying that these security threats should be ignored and dismissed. On the contrary, I believe that all the different types of security threats should be viewed rather seriously so that they can be properly safeguarded against. However, the rise of some of these other security threats has caused people to become more and more lax with the way they treat physical security threats. As a homeowner or a building manager, when was the last time you assessed your security measures? Physical security risks should be considered just as dangerous as any other security threats, and they should be afforded enough time to craft the appropriate physical security countermeasures.
I would like to take the time to explore some of the most common types of physical security threats to help give you a better understanding of the dangers they pose. At the end of the article, I will walk you through some steps that you can employ to help reduce the danger of any physical security threats you may potentially come into contact with.
Physical Security Threats
It is no surprise that physical security tends to be brushed aside in this day and age. As I pointed out, this is mostly due to the amount of time that is spent trying to counter other security threats, which have cropped up and grown in popularity over the last few decades. For example, due to the increasing popularity of smart locks many people spend their time safe guarding against the unique vulnerabilities of these devices.
Physical security can be summarized as protective measures that are meant to ensure the safety of people, resources, and other important assets, from physical threats. Here are the most common type of physical security threats:
1. Theft and Burglary
Theft and burglary are a bundled deal because of how closely they are related. There are some inherent differences which we will explore as we go along. Theft and burglary are two of the most common types of physical security threats, and they are some of the easiest to protect against. Now, do not take this the wrong way and think that I am gloating about security threat countermeasures. The last thing you want to do is to underestimate just how much burglary and theft can impede your safety at home or derail the progress of your business.
I say that theft and burglary are somewhat easy to combat because you can predict the manner in which you will be attacked to some degree of accuracy. This gives you the opportunity to set measures in place that will help limit the access a burglar or criminal might have to your home or office. However, if you do not have any measures that are meant to guard against them, then you cannot expect theft and burglary to be easy to handle.
Many residences and commercial properties have to deal with threats like this on a daily basis. However, it is a much more complex problem for commercial properties. This is because you will have to safeguard against the external and internal threats. When it comes to businesses, there is a very high likelihood that you will be exposed to the possibility of employee theft, as well as other security threats that can undermine your physical security. Taking the time to understand the vulnerabilities that you face from burglars and criminals will help you take the appropriate steps to effectively combat these threats.
2. Vandalism
If you ask the average person whether or not they think vandalism is considered a physical security threat, they will most likely conclude that it is not. This isn’t really surprising because the average person most likely thinks that graffiti is synonymous with art and art can’t be bad, right? You would be wrong to say that graffiti is not art, but you would also be wrong to think that graffiti is the extent of vandalism.
Vandalism is defined as any activity that involves the deliberate destruction, damage, or defacement of public or private property. Vandalism is often glorified in the media, but the truth is that in many ways it violates some of the physical security measures that people have worked hard to put in place. Not only does it destroy some of these physical measures, but it also takes a toll on many of the resources that required hefty investments of time and money.
Imagine if someone egged your home just after you had completed a rather expensive remodeling process, or if someone spray painted something offense across the front door of your office. These are not just harmless acts committed by teenagers or somewhat troubled individuals. They are crimes that threaten your physical security and the well being that you have strived to achieve.
In many ways, vandalism is often linked to property damage and this is one of the things that robust physical security measures is meant to guard against. With the proper measures in place, the risk of property damage decreases ten-fold. There are times where vandalism might be used to deliver a message, as a political medium or as an art form, but it is always important to be aware property is being damaged in the process. And this makes it a unique threat to physical security. The key to defeating vandalism (especially on private property) rests in having really strong perimeter security, which we will discuss later on.
3. Terrorism
Acts of terror are easily identifiable as physical security threats, much more than any of the other measures that might be listed. It is a physical security threat that transcends offices and homes and it is something that even countries have to contend with. This is mostly because acts of terror are brazen and are often widely publicized. The thing about terrorism is the fact that it is able to pervade several different facets of physical security and compromise each of these on an almost equal level. This means that acts of terror are a threat to the physical security of your company, your home and to some aspects of your personal security.
The threat of terrorism is one that every company and household should take seriously, but it is often overlooked by many because they believe an act of terror will never hit them close to home. It might hit a region of your country, but you never think it will be on your street or in your neighborhood. This might be true but the worst thing you can do is believe that you are exempt from this occurrence. You should still take the time to prepare to combat it, should the need ever arise.
Unlike many of the other threats that we have discussed and will discuss, it is much harder to combat terrorism on a small scale, but there are measures that you can implement that will increase the likelihood of survival for those around you. Many of these measures are put in place by the government and other organizations to help prevent the likelihood that a terrorist attack will occur.
This does not mean that homeowners and businesses are off the hook when it comes to physical security threats and terrorism. There are still preventative measures that can be put in place to ensure that the lives of your family and employees are not put at any further risk. Some of the best ways to do this involve setting up safety protocols and measures that are tailored to dealing with the fallout of terrorist attacks.
4. Natural Disasters
It used to be that natural disasters were very hard to plan for because it was difficult to predict when one would strike, but we haven’t had to live in the dark ages for quite some time now. In this modern age, companies and homeowners usually have a few days notice before any major natural disaster hits (with certain exclusions). But even then, there is still a degree of unpredictability that they will have to contend with.
There are a broad scope of natural disasters that people will have to deal with at some point in time and these disasters range from earthquakes, floods, wildfires, etc. Keep in mind that some of these disasters can also be man made, namely floods and fires. Not every flood or fire is going to be as a result of a natural disaster. The loss of resources and damage to property can end up being very costly by the time it is all said and done. This tends to take a very huge toll on physical security measures, and it is one of the harshest physical security threats that any organization or individual will have to deal with at any time.
One of the best ways to combat and mitigate the danger and effects of a natural disaster is to invest in equipment that helps you stay alert. This equipment usually includes sensors and alarms that are meant to keep people aware and alert.
5. Assault
Assault is a rather complicated physical security threat. I say this because it can often be an amalgamation of many of some of the other security threats we discussed above. Assault should always be taken seriously as a physical security threat, and you should always take it into account so that you know how to counter it.
The thing about assault is that it usually stems from people that you have had some form of interaction with at some point in time, no matter how little. Assaults can stem from interactions with friends, neighbors, significant others, or even disgruntled co-workers. The past interaction that you have had gives you an upper hand because it gives you the opportunity to plan and counter any physical security threats. If you notice any behavior that is out of the ordinary or threatening, you should consult with authorities or take steps to boost the physical security measures around you.
Physical Security Tips
I never like to leave people hanging, so of course I am going to end this by brushing over some physical security tips that will help you negate the effects of any security threats. Here are some handy physical security tips to help bolster your security:
- Pay close attention to all entrance points and points of egress. This goes for residential properties as well as commercial properties. Assess the security measures that you have in place and upgrade your locks to higher security locks if need be. Commercial locksmiths are great resources that can help you accomplish this.
- Utilize surveillance cameras and alarms at these vulnerable points to improve the way in which you track activity. This is a good measure to help combat burglary and theft. Also, employers should take the time to cultivate better working habits that will reduce the likelihood of criminal activity and assaults within the workplace. Promote discourse and dialogue that will make it easier for employees to step up and notify you of any security threats.
- Take the time to layer your security measures. Doing this will help give you better overall security, and it will also make it much harder for your security measures to be bypassed by any physical security threat. Both homeowners and commercial property managers can make use of access control systems, surveillance cameras, increased perimeter security, and other security solutions, to better layer their security.
- Do not neglect implementing safety plans meant to detail the security measures that should be followed in the event of any terrorist attacks or natural disasters. This involves taking the time to understand all the risks that your home or office might be prone too, as well as understanding the people that you have to cater to, in terms of security. Doing so will help you construct a security plan that leaves no stone unturned and increases everyone’s chances of survival.
- Always be aware of the people around you and the interactions you have. Putting in a little extra effort to be more conscious of these things is one of the easiest ways to battle assault. Also, make use of emergency contact information and the buddy system to ensure that there is always someone near you. I know this approach will not work for everyone, so if you are used to keeping to yourself, make sure that you take the time to explore some personal defense measures that can come in handy.
Conclusion
Security threats and physical security threats are a part of life, but this doesn’t mean you have to constantly live in fear of them. I hope that taking the time to walk through some of the most common types of physical security threats has helped make you more aware and has helped you understand what might be needed to combat them. If you have any questions, make sure you leave a comment below and we will address any concerns you might have over physical security threats.

Halloween Décor Ideas That Will Surely Scare Your Visitors
What sets Halloween apart from other holidays is how invested people are into spooking others through their home décor or costumes. Try the following ideas and see how frightened your neighbors and guests will be.
Stacked Jacks
Who knew a benign pumpkin patch could yield such otherworldly creatures? Assume the role of Dr. Frankenstein this Halloween, and create your own monster, using stacks of pumpkins, gourds, and squashes. Only the heads need carving; if the bumpy body parts don’t sit squarely on each other, level them with a serrated knife, then use toothpicks, pushed into the flesh, to assemble them. Before attaching the head, insert a low-wattage light bulb, and plug it into an outside socket or heavy-duty extension cord. Source: MarthaStewart
Creepy Eyeball Glasses
Give your guests a fright by placing an eyeball at the bottom of your glass. This is a fun way to decorate as it isn’t obvious and it won’t be seen until the drink is tipped. You could print out any eyes and if the glass is plain on the bottom, just stick the eyeballs to the outside of the glass on the bottom. Source: StayGlam
Garage Door Victim
If you really want to freak people out, stuff some old clothes with straw or paper and leave the top half under your garage door, then splatter the front of the door with ketchup. Source: LittleThings
Eerie Glowing Ghost Halloween Décor
Ghosts are Halloween creatures that have been used for ages, but ghosts can also be boring. Make them interesting by creating a Halloween window decoration that will illuminate your window with an eerie blue glow. You can achieve this design by cutting some sheets to look like a ghost and placing a black light in the midst of the sheets. Creating this design in a dark space will make it glow even more. Spirits may exist in this world, but creating a freestanding ghost in your window will make it seem like your home is truly haunted by spirits from beyond the grave. Source: HomeBNC
